Samantha just turned 3-1/2 in March. And I just can't believe she is over half way to 4 now. I mentioned before she is getting to be a kid now. She is more aware of what is going on around her. The stuff she does is more intentional. And her interests are changing too. But along with that, her personality is becoming more evident. It hasn't changed much to be honest since she was little, just more evident.
She has always been more concrete in the way she does and says things. I have begun to notice that when we play Starfall.com, things need to be done in a certain order, in a certain way, and she puts very little imagination in the parts of the games that are supposed to be a creative outlet for her. I suppose she is a lot like me in those aspects. Everything has to look how it is supposed to. She is also like me in the fact that she does not like to play very much. (As I mentioned before, that is how I was when I was little. I just didn't know HOW to play. It seemed sort of pointless. I mean, I had toys, and I occasionally played with them, but for the most part, I liked to draw.) That is how Sam is now. If you give her paper and colored pencils or markers, paints, anything. She is satisfied for hours. She is in Love with her new easel. She sits in a chair in front of it and will draw and write forever. She writes down letters, numbers, shapes, and pictures. I know she is learning without me even directing her.
She also Loves to read. (I was not very fond of reading until recently, so I assume she didn't get that from me.) She so enjoys Story Time and getting new books. To be honest, the first few weeks it was like pulling teeth to get her out of the house, simply because she is a home body, but now she looks forward to it. And sometimes she wants me to read to her so much I have to FORCE myself. My voice starts to disappear and as much as I hate to, I sometimes have to tell her it is time to put the books down.
Hmm, let's see...what else...She is a sleeper. Sleeps as long as you will let her. But the bad part about that is that she doesn't go to sleep until about 1AM. She is pretty easy to adapting. We have never really had a problem with transitions for her. She is shy for the most part, but when she is comfortable with the people she is around, she is the center of attention. The part that confuses me is that she craves the stage! Even though she is out of dance for now, she always talks about acting lessons, dancing, singing, anything performing. And if she sees a stage, she has to be on it!
She also enjoys gardening with me, helping me cook, and watching TV. We always lay down at night to TV. She really enjoys that time with Jessie and me before we all fall asleep.
Her favorite food is chicken-typical. Her favorite dessert is Sonic blasts...I hate living down the road from Sonic. Too expensive. lol. Her favorite drink she says is juice and milk-I am pretty proud of that. When someone offers her a Coke, she says, "No Thanks. Those are not good for me. lol
There are a few bad things about her of course. She has a bad attitude sometimes. But when she isn't having an attitude, she is so Loving. She Loves hugs and kisses from Jessie and me, but doesn't like to be touched by anybody else, especially as she gets older. Sometimes she can be annoying, like she picks at us and climbs on us and is loud sometimes, but I know that is just a stage.
I guess there isn't much else to say about her. . If I had to pick a few words to describe her I would say calm, extremely loving, and funny.
That is my Sam. :)
