Holiday Traditions

I have been thinking over the last few years that I really want Samantha to know what the holidays are truly about, but also get to do the fun activities that come along with it, like Easter egg hunts and getting spoiled on Christmas. But I never could figure out how I wanted to do it and what traditions we would follow.

Today I was looking up the origins of certain traditions involved with Easter, like the Easter egg hunt.  And I found lots of good information about how each tradition originated. I have decided that we are going to start basing out traditions off of their origin, going back to the old way of things, that really had a meaning. For example, instead of using plastic eggs filled with candy, we are going to start using pace eggs for her hunt. The egg itself symbolizes new life. And the red of the pace eggs symbolizes the blood of Jesus. We will still do a basket for her, but as much as possible I want everything to have a meaning.

I am very glad that I have found some middle ground for our traditions. :)
