Thanksgiving week went well. We visited my Mom and her side of the family in the morning. Then came home when my Dad got in town and started dinner. We had turkey, canned corn, fresh green beans, macaroni, home made red skin mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, home made biscuits, and deviled eggs-first attempt at them and they turned out alright. Then we had the apple pie and cobbbler that we made after we picked those apples at the orchard in Eiljay. We froze them for about a month, and they still tasted amazing-according to Jessie and my Dad. I don't eat apples.
I did end up going out at 9 pm for "Black Friday" shopping. Got in around 2 am. Samantha had a blast with Jessie, so I was happy about that. However, I didn't buy anything...so that was a bummer. I am a "stick to the budget" person, and I had already bought all of Samantha's-except a makeup it. (But I didn't find anything good.) And most everybody in my family is either getting a gift card or something personalized like my Mom is getting a bottle cap necklace that says "Dum" on it, so I have to order it offline.
Now that Thanksgiving is over I need to do my monthly scrub down and start decorating! And get ready to go buy our tree! I Love going to the tree farm and picking one out. I think this year Samantha will be able to help more. She is so excited about getting a tree. She remembers having one last year and she keeps asking if we can have one this year too. lol. We don't put lights or garland or ice sicles or anything. We like it to look a bit natural. We just do our ornaments and an angel at the top-which Samantha was thrilled she got to put on last year so she is begging to do it again this year. And of course a tree skirt.
And under that tree I will be able to put all of Samantha's gifts because I have already ordered them all and received them in the mail. She may get some more small stuff from us, like I know she wants makeup, so I will get her some makeup, but nothing else big. My shopping habits drained us. I started out the year thinking I wouldn't have any ideas on what to get her, and now I have too many!
Anyway, so Samantha and I are going to blast Christmas music and get the decorations out today! Can't wait!
Side Note: My appointment also went well. I just did intake this week, but they are having me come back several times the next few weeks. They put me in two types of therapy. One is traditional weekly counseling. The next is supportive counseling where someone will come out to the house twice a month and talk to me about how to deal with certain things on a daily basis. I also have to have an appointment with a doctor and a nurse because they want to discuss the possibility of medication...don't like that, but they want me to go anyway to talk about it. We made a few goals to hopefully meet in the next 90 days. One of them being, as dumb as this sounds, to start eating lunch with Samantha again instead of cleaning like I have been, at least 3 out of 5 times a week. We will see how it goes.
Oh, and since Jessie took off work, he had Samantha, and she had a blast! He took her to TWO playgrounds and out to get milkshakes. When I got in the car, she was glowing and talking about what all she did. He also got me a card because he knows I am having a hard time right now. He's sweet. Gotta love him.
Here are some pics. I didn't take pics of the pie or cobbler. I was just so worn out from cooking and cleaning constantly that I totally forgot.
Samantha has made a handprint turkey every year since she was born. :) |
