This is a post I apparently saved as a draft and never posted. This was from last month.
This is the first year Parents As Teachers is doing summer meetings, and they are doing some great topics, all on safety. Today was water fun. We went over swim safety tips and they got to swim. They did like a free mini-lesson. Samantha had a blast. She got to play with her friends AND swim. She was in heaven! Oh, and she got to have a snack. :) Next month is fire safety. She will get to see the inside of a fire truck and talk about making an escape plan. Afterward, we are going to go to the park with her teacher so our girls can hang out. Samantha adores her daughter and they aren't too far apart in age, 13 months. Now that Samantha is older, age difference don't seem as bad as when she was little.
This is this month's post about the group meeting. I was really excited about this one! July's group meeting was at the fire station. They taught them about fire safety and they let them look at a fire truck and jump inside to look around! A bunch of Samantha's friends were there, so she really enjoyed that. We watched a movie about fire safety and then went outside to the trucks. Samantha was a bit uneasy, especially about going inside. But once everybody walked away to look at something else, she asked if she could get in. She just didn't want anybody watching her. Then we went inside to see the man put his fire suit on and Samantha LOST IT! She started screaming that she wanted her Daddy and she was so scared. It was pitiful. I took her outside and talked to her about why he was doing that, and she decided to go back inside. She even gave the man a high five and got her picture taken with him all by herself. She was so proud because everybody was clapping for her. Her face was lit up. I am very proud of her how well she is doing lately. She is more willing to try new things and being a little more independant. GO SAMANTHA!!!
PS I am terrified that my blog will get deleted somehow...so I copy and pasted the entire thing to a Word Document and formatted it. Anyone wanna guess how many pages it filled...546-including pic. Guess I won't be printing that out anytime soon...It will just have to be an electronic part of her Baby Journal. lol
